The international corporation Amba Research initiated operations in Costa Rica, where local analysts will be executing financial outsourcing investigations (models and analysis) for the largest banks in the World and for a range of investment funds
The company plans to increase the amount of employees from 20 analysts to 130 by the end of 2007, who will have the benefit of working next to renowned financial investigators of Wall Street.
Andrew Houston, Director and one of the founding partners of the company, stated that the firm selected Costa Rica because of its geographic proximity to the main financial centers of the United States: New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.
“Costa Rica has a similar time zone as those cities, thus it facilitates the contact of the clients with the analysts. Unlike India, in Costa Rica they can pick up the telephone and speak directly to them. Costa Rica surpassed Mexico, Chile and Argentina in advantages when selecting the new site”, explained Houston.
"We needed the right mix between intelligent people and competitive costs, and we found it here since there are well-educated people in finance with a good level of English ", concluded Houston.
Another aspect that also persuaded the decision was the political, social and economic stability of Costa Rica.
Amba Research has operations in Sri Lanka, India, Singapore, United States and England. Costa Rica now becomes the first Latin American headquarters of the company.
